My first impression of Junior was that I felt bad about his condition and I thought it was going to be another feel bad for me books. The way he jokes and makes fun of himself I realized he had a good sense of humor and that he was okay with the fact that he is somewhat different than others. I never had a diary but I think Junior keeps one because he doesn’t have many people to talk to other then his meathead friend Rowdy. I think he has “The Absolutely True” part because it’s almost too bad to be true from thirty year olds beating on him.
Something that could be my “lifeboat” for the hard times could be anything from a basketball or football, sports calm me down. I will forget about any issues I had before if I get a competitive game going. Swimming is usually a peaceful thing that I’ve had around so that’s also something that deters anger.
“With my big feet and pencil body, I looked like a capital L walking down the road” (Alexie pg.3). It isn’t really that deep of line but this line really stuck out to me because it painted a funny picture in my head. That was the first time a really laughed reading a book so it stuck in my head.
